Fosters freeze el centro6/22/2023 ![]() “I feel sad that another local business is closing down,” Marin said. “I remember when I was in high school and after school, we would come on our way home, I have an uncle who has a business around the corner and I would go see him and he would buy me ice cream.”Īrmando Marin came to Foster’s after his daughter told him it was going to be the last day it was going to be open. “I love the banana shakes and I missed out on my banana shake,” Duggan said. “I hope he does that and I hope he’s very successful, I’d hate to see the building altered too much,” Pierson said.Ī local resident Nina Duggan said on Tuesday night that she was sad to learn on social media that Foster’s Freeze was closing that night, but was even more disappointed when she missed out on her favorite treat. He said he doesn’t know what the new owner’s plan is for the property, his real estate agent had told him he may pursue a donut shop that also sells ice cream and food. Escrow was expected to get finalized on Wednesday which was the reason the previous day was the final day of the famous ice cream shop. Pierson had the property for the last 18 months but previous proposals had fallen through and just recently a new interested party got the process moving. He said that late on Wednesday evening the ice machines overheated and he had to step outside to tell some of the customers waiting that they weren’t going to be able to get their ice cream. “It was quite something, we were unprepared for it and we couldn’t keep up,” said owner Brian Pierson. ![]() ![]() EL CENTRO - On Wednesday a large number of locals stopped by Foster’s Old Fashioned Freeze in El Centro to get their favorite treats one last time as the famous ice cream shop was set to close its doors at the end of the day. ![]()
